I’ll be honest, sometimes I end up with more CDs to review than I even have time in the day. I try my best to get through them all, but by the end of the week I feel like I haven’t even made a dent. I’ve been thinking about a way to at least give these bands I don’t really get to some coverage on the site, and thus “Fresh Meat” was born. The concept? Quick, magazine style reviews that seem to be all the rage. This evening, three new albums hit the inbox, and I decided to sit down and check them out real quick.
Fresh Meat – Eyeconoclast: Drones of the Awakening

I’ll be honest, sometimes I end up with more CDs to review than I even have time in the day. I try my best to get through them all, but by the end of the week I feel like I haven’t even made a dent. I’ve been thinking about a way to at least give these bands I don’t really get to some coverage on the site, and thus “Fresh Meat” was born. The concept? Quick, magazine style reviews that seem to be all the rage. This evening, three new albums hit the inbox, and I decided to sit down and check them out real quick.
First Impression – Arsis: Unwelcome

A few days ago, the upcoming Arsis album, Unwelcome, showed up in the inbox. I’ve been dying to give this one a spin for a while, but don’t really intend to get the review done until next week. So, instead of sitting on the band’s highly anticipated fifth album in silence, I figured I’d throw some of my thoughts on the site in a brief first impression article. And, after sitting down with the first half, I can safely say that this was not what I had hoped for.
First Impression – Heaven Shall Burn: Veto

In the past few days, Century Media has slammed my inbox with a slew of their upcoming albums I have been anxious awaiting. One of them I couldn’t wait to hear was the brand new Heaven Shall Burn offering, Veto. So, I decided to sit down and check out a few songs on a personal level as a fan of the band. But, what I was met with was in no way what I expected.
Something’s Rotten in the Metal World Today…
I shot this video earlier in the day. Matter of fact, right after my Hypocrisy review. Some of you will probably get pissed off at me over it, and I’m aware it’ll happen. I’m not insulting anyone or any thing in particular outside of citing… examples to help people understand a point. None of it is an attack on anything but the mentality of some people in the Metal world today. I sat here and watched the clip a few times, debated on whether I should post this or not, mostly because I’m afraid of pissing off close, personal friends. But, in the end, this is my personal opinion, and if these people, who know my stances on the Metal community, can’t accept my feelings towards the topics I cover, then it just proves my point further. This is not meant to anger, hurt, put down, or destroy any one or group of people. It is an opinion, and that I felt needed to be expressed.
To be honest, in no way did I think anyone would actually care what I had to say about this subject. But, Facebook is proving me wrong. So, since apparently some people do seem to be interested in this video, I decided to just go ahead and post it here instead of just keeping it a buried video on the Youtube channel.
Socially Networked – Chasing the Rise

It’s been a little while since I did a Socially Networked article, and what better than to tackle something Metalcore from Lithuania during Unsigned/Indie week? I’m talking about the up and coming band Chasing the Rise! With very little to work with, literally, what prompted me to do this rather quick video to bring them to your attention?
First Impression – Orgy: Grime of the Century

Orgy has returned, and to prove it, they present their latest single, “Grime of the Century.” The song comes from their upcoming full-length album. I heard this single once before, but paid no real attention to it, not liking it at first, but now hearing a higher quality promotional version, does this pose to set up a potentially kick ass album, or does it make the seven year wait seem worthless?
Watching Closely – Darkthrone: The Underground Resistance

One of my most anticipated albums for 2013 is the latest effort from Darkthrone, and it’s safe to assume I’m not the only one. The past few releases have found the band messing with their Black Metal formula, and for many fans, it’s been a hit or miss experience. But, if the recently released single off the impending The Underground Resistance is any sign of what’s to come, things are definitely about to get interesting once more.
Zen Your Ass Off with Mothership

Every once in a shile, even the most rage filled individuals find a moment of inner peace. Whether due to a favorite vice, or just a positive day in general, sometimes you just want to kick bnack and unwind with something just a little more mellow than he latest Death, Black, or Thrash Metal effort. This is foe those you who want to get the zen kicked out your ass, and that’s exactly what this album will do for you…
Socially Networked: Sterbhaus

Checking my Facebook for any upates, I’m met with an Ad for a band called Sterbhaus. It describes the band as “sweet” Thrash Metal. There may havw bwwn more but that’s all I saw at the time. Well, with a summary like that, of course I had to give it a shot. The link directs me to a Bandcamp stream through their page, which is of their independent debut full-length Angels for Breakfast …and God for Lunch. With impressive artwork making my curiosity grow more, I dive right into the public stream.
