When it comes to Germany’s Sodom as of late, you never really know exactly what you’ll get. Will the next album be a straight-forward thrash assault, or will they bare their black and speed metal fangs once more? Perhaps it will be something wholly different somehow. Whatever the case may be, you know you’ll more than likely end up with something good at the end of the day. This time around though, some became skeptical. Earlier this year the trio issued the Days of Retribution EP, which wasn’t met with a great deal of praise leading up to their fifteenth full-length effort, Decision Day. But does this new effort boast anything worth checking out after all this time, or is it their most lackluster creation to date?

Review - Ringworm: Snake Church
Cleveland, Ohio’s Ringworm initially came into existence back in 1991, though most people [including myself for the longest time] didn’t know this, nor that their debut album was The Promise in 1993 through Incision Records. What followed was a brief hiatus for the hardcore thrash act, reforming in 1999 and signing to Victory Records for their long overdue 2001 follow-up Birth is Pain. Since then, its been all uphill for the group, carving a name in the ever-expanding world of metal and hardcore. They currently sit with Relapse Records and, following a line-up change in 2014 that saw the inclusion of drummer Ryan Steigerwald and guitarist Mark Witherspoon (Solipsist), we’re now given the group’s seventh full-length entry, Snake Church. But is the venom as potent as the last bite, or has this beast been defanged?
Review - Impure Consecration: Succumb to Impurity Fire
California death metal act Impure Consecration came into existence sometime around or prior to 2015. The exact time that founding… Read more »
Review - DevilDriver: Trust No One
In about the span of a year, DevilDriver underwent a rather massive line-up change. John Boecklin and Jeff Kendrick are no longer with the group since 2014, and earlier this year the band also lost Chris Towning. In 2015, drummer Austin D’Amond (Bleed the Sky, ex-Chimaira) and guitarist Neal Tiemann (David Cook, Midwest Kings) were brought in to fill the respective ranks, and bassist Diego Ibarra (ex-Static-X, ex-Wayne Static) to cement the new formation for 2016. With a slew of new blood, one could only wonder if we would get the same DevilDriver fans have come to know and love, especially following the powerhouse that was 2013’s Winter Kills, or will it be something dramatically different, but in a negative manner?
Review - Foul Body Autopsy: Perpetuated by Greed
Ex-Love Lies in Ashes musician Tom Reynolds is the sole member of the UK-based death metal act Foul Body Autopsy. The project officially began in 2010 with the Foul Body Autopsy - Vol. 1 recording, and since then has been issuing random EPs, not to mention a self-titled full-length in 2013 through UKEM Records. Up to 2014’s So Close to Complete Dehumanization, it seemed something new would pop up at least once a year. However, there was no new Foul Body Autopsy for 2015. Instead, we find the fifth EP, Perpetuated by Greed, dropping early on in 2016 through Grindscene Records. But has that time allowed Tom to further his craft, or is this just a jumbled mess of random, unfinished compositions masquerading as grindcore?
Review - 2 Bedroom 1 Bath
We’ve all gone through the joys of moving into a new home, apartment, or building of some sort at one point in our lives, so it should come as no surprise that there are plenty of films out there that somehow revolve around the concept in a fairly terrifying manner. This is where the recently released independent horror flick 2 Bedroom 1 Bath comes into play. Written and directed by Stanley Yung (#1 Serial Killer, Sting of the Black Scorpion), published by Al Bravo Films and Chemical Mind Studios, not to mention backed by a surprisingly strong cast of known actors, the film heralded in many reviews as having plenty of heart for the style incorporates both psychological horror and the paranormal into one running theme of moving into a new home. But does this new independent haunted house entry boast anything worth checking out, or does it fall flat on its face in execution?
