Invidious: In Death

After two demos under the name Katalysator between 2005 and 2007, the group changed their name to what is now known as Invidious. In 2011, they recorded a new four song EP titled In Death, which was released through the smaller German label Imperium Productions on various colored vinyl, some a highly limited pressing. If you happened to miss it the first time, Sepulchral Voice Records is making it available once again in December of 2013. While previous material exists, this recording doesn’t take from the two previous recordings, and is composed of all new material. But is this gritty recording one worth seeking out?

Vallenfyre: A Fragile King

In 2011, Gregor Mackintosh (PARADISE LOST) announced that he would go back to his death metal roots with his new band, VALLENFYRE. The level of expectation was set high with a line-up consisting of Hamish Glencross (guitar; MY DYING BRIDE), Scoot (bass; DOOM, EXTINCTION OF MANKIND), Adrian Erlandsson (drums; AT THE GATES, PARADISE LOST, THE HAUNTED) local friend Mully (second guitar) - and of course, Gregor on vocals (for the first time in his career!). Their debut, A Fragile King, was a reference to Gregor’s father’s (lost) battle with cancer; the harrowing, crusty death-doom found on the album was hailed as “a beast of a record” (Terrorizer UK) and “a sonic force that bites deep and hard” (Decibel). Simply put, A Fragile King is “old school to the bone” (Rock Hard Germany).

The ale is a fine equilibrium of wheat and white wine with a slight, fruit-like yeast character. (Fittingly named after the song Never Blow Out The Eastern Candle).

Kill Ritual Complete Recording New Album, Reveal Details, Stream New Song

Kill Ritual: The Serpentine Ritual

Recorded at his own studio in Norway in collaboration with drummer Tobias Ornes Anderson (Leprous), KillRitual’s Das Seelenbrechen takes its name from Nietzche’s famed Human, All Too Human: A Book of Free Spirits and courageously eschews traditional metal instrumentation in favor of a limitless textural landscape that evokes the freewheeling spirit of artists like Diamanda Galas, Scott Walker, and John Zorn. A daring and exploratory recording that is a musical contrast to the progressive shades and saxophone augmentations of the former Emperor vocalist/guitarist’s previous two albums (2009′s After and 2011′s Eremita), Das Seelenbrechen exists in an entirely unfamiliar sonic world as KillRitual draws upon his most esoteric influences, fully embracing the spirit of the avant-garde.

Zombi Announce Tour with Goblin, Three Vinyl Reissues

The newest Zombi LP since the Scarborough, UK-based act’s 1990-released Disgrace To Humanity, the whirlwind of old-school hardcore punk on Them is a throwback to the mid-late ’80s hardcore scene when the grindcore was only beginning to take shape. Raging with twenty tracks in just over thirty minutes, recorded by Bri Doom, of UK crust legends, Doom, Them proves that the quartet — vocalist Kai, guitarist Yaga, bassist Ryan and drummer Ade — haven’t let their guard down, and are as capable of deploying the same aggressive, ultZombi-fast and frenzied socio-political musical melee they did more than two decades ago. A must-have for diehards of Active Minds, Disorder, Doom, Atavistic, Electro Hippies, L’arm and Heresy.
