The Croods

DreamWorks Animation have put out some truly memorable films over the years, many of which visual feasts in theatres, as well as on the small screens around the world. Anyone who has seen any of the Shrek, Madagascar, even Kung-Fu Panda films will immediately recognize the skilled staff this production company has, though they probably were out to lunch when it came to 2007′s Bee Movie. One of their latest productions, The Croods, was a film that looked like it wanted to have the same impact as some of their more well known projects, but the trailers simply didn’t cut it. But, the more people went to see it, the more it surprised audiences and critics alike. Now that it’s on DVD, do The Croods really stand as an A+ DreamWorks film well worth the cautious wait, or is it really another rare flop?

Bad Milo!

Bad Milo!

The Horror Comedy genre has been picking up a lot of speed lately. Every time you turn around, there seems to be more films entering the fray, though catering to zombies more times than not. Bad Milo! falls into the style of film, but doesn’t involve the flesh hungry undead. This time around it’s film about a normal man facing his literal inner demons and frustrations. Released through Magnet Releasing, the perfect company for this zany concept, does the solid cast of actors you may not recognize and decent budget stand out among the countless drones cashing in on the style, or is this a laugh out loud experience for all the wrong reasons?

Saturday Morning Mystery

Saturday Morning Mystery, or Saturday Morning Massacre as it is being billed for the US it seems, is the latest film to be released through XLrator Media. The film has been heralded as a Comedy/Horror flick in the vein of Scooby-Doo and Evil Dead, though it hasn’t been getting the most positive and warm of receptions that you might expect. Clearly taking from the sixties detective cartoons, this throws a fictious, and all too familiar gang together into a twisted world of mystery and murder. But, is Saturday Morning Mystery as bad as many have been claiming, or is this actually a solid nod to the Hannah-Barbara days of sleuthing?

The World’s End

It isn’t quite midnight, infact it’s earlier than that. Our local movie theatre showed The World’s End at ten PM EST, but had no problem charging full evening weekend matinee price. But, I had some spare cash set aside for Dana and I to go see The World’s End, the third and final part of the Cornetto Trilogy. But, was it worth it?

Klown Kamp Massacre

Klown Kamp Massacre

Klown Kamp Massacre is a clown themed slasher film from I Can’t Believe It’s Not Hollywood Entertainment. Released in 2010, the film has met with plenty of high praise, comparing it to the likes of Killer Klowns from Outer Space. Well, it’s around four in the morning, and with nothing on television but re-runs and people doing their jobs, so it was time to throw in a movie, and this was the one that I settled on this time around. But, does this film live up to the high praise the internet is giving it, or does it cause me to give into levels of anger and frustration I didn’t know possible?

Mockingbird Lane

Mockingbird Lane

One of the most controversial reboots of the 2012 year was the announcement that The Munsters would have a new series that would establish them in a dark light. Written by Bryan Fuller, this was meant to be the pilot to a possible new television Drama on NBC. However, it seems the execs took the outcry of The Munsters into consideration, and it was turned into a forty minute made-for-tv movie instead. But, does this new vision of their world prove to be one that fans will love, or is it yet another reimagined abortion?

Pot Zombies

Pot Zombies

While bored on a Sunday morning, because let’s face it, there’s nothing on but infomercials and Christian televangelists anymore, I decided to head into Comcast’s free movie library on their On Demand service. There were a few films in the Horror genre, but one that caught my eye was a less than hour long offering called Pot Zombies. With the promise of “A Group of Sexy Co-Eds stumbles upon some radioactive weed that turns them into flesh eating zombies,” it was a no brainer to kill an hour of the day / my life? But, even if that summary were true, which it’s not, is this film worth the time you’ll take to sit through it, or is this independent film something just worth brushing off entirely?

A Beary Scary Movie

A Bear Scary Movie

As IWrestledabearonce continue to thrive more and more within the Hardcore and Deathcore worlds, it seems as if they, as well as their label, are taking more chances with them. One of these happens to be their very first feature film as a band. A Beary Scary Movie continues the ill-treaded legacy of groups taking on the acting role, much like KISS and Lordi have done over the years. But, will this film suffer the same curse as all those in the past, or will this offering be one of the first to really stand out to more than just the band’s niche audience, if even them?

Attack the Block

Attack the Block
For quite a while, I noticed Attack the Block sitting in the local Red Box kiosks. It’s rather cheesy cover box artwork screamed a hilarious b-movie Science Fiction film, but overall never got around to picking it up. However, after seeing it creep up on some best of 2011 lists lately, including some of the film critics I pay close attention to due to similar tastes, I invested in a rental to see just what it was that I had been missing out on. Many surprises lie in wait for anyone bold enough to give this alien invasion flick a quick spin, but are they pleasant surprises, or was this movie really just a laugh out loud low budget movie?
