Sannhet Stream New Digital Single “Lions Eye”

Sannhet: Known Flood

Featuring two beautifully crushing works from the Brooklyn, New York-based outfit, the succinct but compelling digital-only release contains the songs,”Lions Eye” and “You Thy __,” both recorded by Brendan Tobin (Made Out Of Babies, Red Sparrows) at his Ice Cream Audio, and mastered by Carl Saff. SANNHET has been performing the songs as part of their live set for the past year, and wanted to put them to tape as to segue the gap between their acclaimed 2013 debut LP, Known Flood, and pending sophomore album coming in 2014. Lions Eye is being released in conjunction with the band’s friends at Sacrament Music/Saint Vitus Bar, responsible for the release of the Known Flood LP, which was subsequently joined by a CD version via Consouling Sounds. Stated the band on the new material, “These two songs are a little taste of what we’ve been working on since Known Flood. We think this release showcases a bit more of the raw intensity people have come to expect from our live shows over the past year.”

Raw - Laurasia Awaits Us: Apathy Remains Victorious

Laurasia Awaits Us: Apathy Remains Victorious

Laurasia Awaits Us is a Finnish Post-Black Metal group that recently signed to Domestic Genocide Records to release a remastered version of last year’s debut, Apathy Remains Victorious, a cold and grim personal exploration in six songs. This leaves behind overly technical and poetic means to convey emotions in a down-to-earth manner. While it sounds promising, the audio really isn’t. The drums (possibly programmed) have heavy wash out, and there’s plenty of studio errors and corrections you easily pick up on, especially when changing distortions abruptly. This is rough since it’s where the atmosphere largely stems from.

Eight Bells: Species at War

Forged from the ashes of rural Texas based group SubArachnoid Space, founder Melynda Jackson returns with the brand new group, Eight Bells. The band recently moved to Portland, Oregon, where they continue to work on experimental and Progressive music. They recently were picked up by Seventh Rule Records to release the debut full-length effort, The Captain’s Daughter. It may only be four songs, but still clocks in at a hefty thirty one plus minutes of atmospheric material. But, just how engaging is this effort really?

Fen: Dustwalker (Limited Edition)

Fen: Dustwalker

Fen formed back in 2006, and since then has been making quite a name for themselves. They issued their debut recording, an MCD titled Ancient Sorrow rhrough Northern Silence in 2007, and was promptly picked up by Code666 Records for their debut and follow-up full-length albums. Still signed with them, Dustwalker marks the third from this Post-Blck Metal group, but does it a show a group in their prime, or is this effort another to get lost in the growing field?
