Endless Recovery is a Greek Thrash Metal group that formed back in 2010. Since then, they have gone through a few line-up changes that left drummer Mike M. the only founding member. He was joined by bassist Panos A and rhythm guitarist Tasos P in 2012 (which also saw the release of their independent debut EP Liar Priest), then Mixalis S. on vocals and guitarist Giorgos S. in 2013 and 2014 respectively. 2013 also saw the release of their debut album Thrash Rider through Eat Metal Records, and for this year a brand new seven-inch EP titled Resistant Bangers through Witches Brew. But is this something thrashers worldwide need to hear, or is it something that isn’t really worth a passing glance?

“Resistant Bangers” is the most impressive as far as technicality and speed goes, blending together a harsh buzz of the guitars that does drown out the bass guitar a bit (though not entirely mute or without stand-out moments). There’s a good amount of variety as well, though never really straying from a general hostility and dark Vektor presence, right down to the use of some well executed and dispersed falsetto vocals. “Predefined Life”, however, lets the drums stick out a little more, though the hostility remains the same. Near growling rasps line the performance, as well as some melodic segments for the chorus that can take a turn into Venom influence, but maintaining a hint of the band’s regional roots. While the title track was a little more common for the genre, this one has a little more going for it as far as staying power and memorability goes.

Resistant Bangers does have a decent analog sound to it, but not to the extreme most underground or newer Thrash Metal bands have been using lately. While the music is a bit muffled, it doesn’t hinder the overall impact of the tight, fast paced performances found within. It ends up a mix of standard analog rage and infectious hooks that stands out more for the latter than just the first. Really, “Predefined Life” is where the band truly stands out, leaving you wanting to hear more of those two worlds mixing together so well. This isn’t a band seven-inch EP, and fans of hostile eighties Thrash Metal, especially with falsettos, will find plenty to enjoy about the recording in the end. If you happen to have some spare cash, Resistant Bangers is worth picking up, or at least sampling first to see what Endless Recovery has to offer.
