It has been reported most of the day today that the legendary vocalist/bassist of Motorhead, Lemmy Kilmister, has passed away at the age of seventy. Other than a few close friends or colleagues of his, there was no official statement made about this, leading some to think it’s a hoax. However, around 8pm EST, the band officially confirmed his passing on their official Facebook page.
It’s a sad day for the metal world today, and with a heavy heart I post this announcement. Lemmy’s work in Motorhead, not to mention his work ethic and time spent on the road, has always been something I tremendously respect, and will always look at as a form of inspiration to keep going.
According to some sites, Motorhead has called it a day following Lemmy’s passing.
Rest in peace, Lemmy, and thanks for all the killer songs.
Motorhead released their latest effort, Bad Magic, through UDR Music on August 28th, 2015. The band intended to go out on tour to celebrate their fortieth anniversary in January with Saxon and Girlschool as support.
